If you gave us
your signed Deed Poll for archiving as part of our Legal Copy and Archive
Service, we can send extra legal copies from our archives. If your original
Deed Poll is not in our files, you can request a replacement; in that instance,
the whole amount you paid will be applied to the cost of the new Deed Poll. If
you do not require a replacement Deed Poll, we will return the amount you paid
in excess search fee.
The only people
who may legitimately obtain copies of a Deed Poll from our archives are the
person or persons named on it. The child may obtain legal copies of any Deed
Poll on which they are mentioned, provided that they are now at least 16 years
old.
Why choose us
If you order our
Legal Copy, you will receive your original Deed Poll document along with the
number of legal copies you select on your application form. Legal copies, also
known as certified copies, can be used in place of the original Deed Poll
document when mailing it to organizations, businesses, or other establishments
that will not accept a photocopy of it in major record holders such as the
Passport Office, the DVLA and the financial institutions etc. Therefore, you
can avoid damage or loss to your original Deed poll archive
service document during transportation or while it is being
handled by the several entities you must submit it to by giving record holders
a legal copy of your Deed Poll. Additionally, you can notify several record
holders of your name change simultaneously with legal copies, which avoids the
need to wait for each record holder to return your original Deed Poll before
sending it on to the next. If you are a British national living overseas, in
addition to the companies mentioned above, you will also need to apply for a
new passport at the British embassy that is closest to you and submit your
original Deed Poll. However, you can use your legal copies to change any
records and papers that are based in the UK.
