Obtain a Copy of Your Previous Deed Poll for Deed Poll Archive Service

If you submitted your signed Deed Poll for preservation as part of our Legal Copy and Archive Service, we can supply extra legal copies from our archives. You can request a replacement if your Deed Poll is not included in our archives; in that instance, the full amount of your payment will be applied to the cost of the replacement Deed Poll.

Only the person(s) identified on a Deed Poll may request legal copies of a Deed Poll from our archives. A child listed on a Deed Poll who is currently at least 16 years old may ask for legal copies of the document.

You will receive the original Deed Poll document and the number of legal copies you requested on your application form if you use our Legal Copy. Legal copies in the Deed poll archive service can be used to send your original Deed Poll documents to institutions like the Passport Office and financial institutions that won't accept a photocopy of your Deed Poll. By sending record holders a legal copy of your Deed Poll document, you can prevent damage or loss to the original Deed Poll document while it is in your care or while being handled by the many institutions you need to send it to.  Additionally, you can notify several record holders of your name change simultaneously using legal copies instead of needing to wait for each record holder to give you their original Deed Poll before forwarding it to a different record holder. Please be advised that the legal copies we provide are not additional copies of the Deed Poll documents we first mailed to you.

What number of certified copies should be ordered?

It is difficult for us to give you advice on how many legal copies of the Deed poll archive service you should obtain because we do not know how many significant record holders you need to notify of your name change or how quickly you want to have all of your documents and records altered to reflect your new name.
